Saanens
(Click here for our Reference list of Saanens from 2015)

For people new to my site I have been keeping a pretty LOW profile for the past 4 years. In 2015 I closed my Grade A Dairy and sold the vast majority of the goats to other dairies. I kept 3 young does a couple old retired GCH does and a few others too old or gimpy to live in another commercial herd.

Destiny & Salsa are two of those young does. With a few offspring from the other old ladies, now gone, they are pretty well the rebirth of my purebred Saanen herd.

With my cancer treatment I was unable to get the girls out in 2019. Even for LA I wasn't able to be at the host site for scoring. It was Chemotherapy day! Thankfully it was handled by goat friends! Please see the sales list link for information on reserving kids for 2020.

With the semen in my nitrogen tanks I still have a strong tie to the animals that made my herd well known. I'm looking forward, Lord willing, to again getting out and showing my girls.

I have been doing LA the past two years and hope to get back on DHIR testing in 2020. Meanwhile I will slowly grow the Saanen herd but keep it small enough to manage.

Take a few minutes to look at the background animals and enjoy the other links you find here.

Cupid, Whimsy, Shadow & Firefly 2009 DISTRICT VII SAANEN SPECIALTY—BOISE ID.—1ST PLACE DAIRY HERD
Left to right :Cupid, Whimsy, Shadow & Firefly
I only went to ONE club show in 2009 but it was well worth the time and effort to travel almost 500 miles one way. Shadow finished her GCH, Cupid was BOB & BUOB, two junior does earned legs, plus we won group classes we had entries for. Between the one show and Linear Appraisal all mature does, the bucks and some dry stock got evaluated.
Cherub & Angel Cherub & Angel - A Proud moment to cherish! 1st place Dam & Daughter, 2005 ADGA National Show.
Cherub and Angel have crossed the rainbow bridge. While these exceptional does are no longer living with us their legacy lives on through offspring. I am saddened by their loss-they are forever out on green pasture with browse around the edges and warm sun on their backs.
ROCKY-RUN RRS DESTINY
ROCKY-RUN RRS DESTINY

Destiny earned two legs towards her championship in 2018 the only year she was shown. This doe is a steady milker and a pleasure to work with. Destiny's LA Score is from 2018. Lord willing me and the girls can hit the road next year for some shows and a few fairs.

ROCKY-RUN RRS SALSA
ROCKY-RUN RRS SALSA

Salsa is a hard working girl. She really needs to go on DHIR (hopefully 2020 will get us back on test). Salsa has been generous with daughters as well as milk and her daughters are quality like mom.

ROCKY-RUN RRMOC PICANTE
ROCKY-RUN RRMOC PICANTE

Picante was the sleeper doe going form an over-conditioned dry yearling to a strong uddered and productive two year old first freshener. Picante milked off the baby fat and was milking extremely well for LA.

ROCKY-RUN BUGS MO RELISH
ROCKY-RUN BUGS MO RELISH

Relish, named after her granddam, is a big rangy yearling. Very soft productive udder with a lot of room to grow and produce. Sweet tempered and a joy to work with she reminds me of grandma more all the time.

ROCKY-RUN I'S FIREFLY 12*M
ROCKY-RUN I'S FIREFLY 12*M

Fire is retired from breeding...I did breed her AI fall of 2018 and she kidded with twin bucks, Dang it! Of course it was on April Fools day too! Both bucks found their way to 4-H homes for pack goat projects. Photo is from 2015 where Fire, not liking to travel, didn't make enough milk to do her justice.

ROCKY-RUN RRMOC CRICKET
ROCKY-RUN RRMOC CRICKET

Cricket is one of the biggest does in the barn. I really like this doe and think she will become better with age and if she decides to bless me with multiple kids AND enough milk to balance her size be an excellent LA doe.

ROCKY-RUN BUGS CHERUB
ROCKY-RUN BUGS CHERUB

I didn't intend to breed Cherub to freshen as a yearling. It's been years since I had an accidental breeding and that was a horned adult Boer buck who tore down a fence to get into the doe pen...where he did breed two Saanens! Cherub got thru a gate that wasn't properly latched and bred herself to her sire. She kidded with a single buck 10 days before LA. Cherub has a lot of maturing to do yet.

ROCKY-RUN RRMOC GRAND DESIGN
ROCKY-RUN RRMOC GRAND DESIGN

Destiny's son surprised me with his yearling LA score. FS88 which is rare for a yearling buck. Design is a big buck for his age too. I'm looking forward to a few doe kids from Design next year.
